About Donald Scott Mackenzie:

  • 2002 – Current:            I received my law license in December of 2002 and founded my own legal practice serving businesses and individuals. My focus has been complex business and civil litigation in Texas State and Federal courts. I have had the opportunity to represent a spectrum of clients in all kinds of matters and have dealt with all aspects of litigation.

My litigation experience is comprehensive; from filing or answering suit, including obtaining service of process, mediation and arbitration, settlement and trial and appeals. My goal is always directed to obtaining the best possible results and minimizing risk and expense to the client.

My practice includes varied subject matter ranging from oil and gas matters and UCC equipment lease financing to Federal ERISA benefits matters. My clients have ranged from individuals to multimillion dollar corporations and churches and charities.

I have obtained favorable rulings against some of the most prestigious law firms in Texas in Federal, state and appellate courts. Without depending on staff and support, I have utilized technology to place myself on equal ground with law firms bristling with staff and support.

  • 1996 – 2001:   I was the Contract Administrator for U.S. Gas Transportation in Dallas, Texas. My duties included negotiating and executing Gas Industry Standards Board purchase and sale contracts for natural gas. Responsibilities included oversight of the purchase, allocation or sale of transportation contracts on El Paso, Transwestern, and other major natural gas pipelines.
  • 1995 - 1996:    I graduated from University in 1995 and went to work at Rollins Truck Leasing. I learned how to locate decision makers and market our heavy equipment leasing services. Duties included fleet management of 300 heavy truck units, including provision of maintenance, fueling and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities included staffing and operation of a Rollins Truck Leasing fuel and repair facility and maintaining and marketing our services and equipment.

  • Southern Methodist University, J.D., Law, May 2002.
    Passed the Bar Exam in July, obtained my license in December and opened my practice in January of 2003.

  • California Polytechnical University, Bachelor of Science, Agricultural Business, May 1995 degree focused on transportation, energy and export business issues.
